But I Need It!!

This was the birthday card I had made for my little sister's 14th birthday, using the "But I Need It" set from Hanna Stamps - a very good set to have on hand for pretty much any occasion! I colored the girl to resemble my sister, using Bic Mark-Its and Copic Atyou Spica markers - this was done before I started my Copic Sketch collection. I added some bling & flowers, and popped up the whole image piece and...Ta DA!
I'm off now - time to go get Lily & myself put together for a trip to the Doc - it's 2 month check-up day today, and I am NOT looking forward to it! (Ugh, needles - bad enough to have to get them yourself - worse taking your unsuspecting wee one to get stabbed!)
Wish me luck - I'll need it!

This Little Mermaid...

wanted to go to Mini University, but didn't get created until after the fact! By the time it finally occurred to me to make this little notebook for my cousin, who 'hates pink', Mini U was already over & she was on her way back home. Oh well, that's the thing about notebooks - you can always use them for something!

For this, I used The Greeting Farm's Mermaid Anya, my most favorite double-sided cardstock EVER(!) that I can't remember who made it, and a chipboard "E". Anya is coloured using a combination of Copic Sketch markers, Atyou Spica markers, Bic Mark-Its and Sharpies... and some Doodlebug Sugar Coating on her tail. I also used the glitter on the "E", because you can never have too much sparkle! I stamped a circle from a Stampology set (I think) in Versamark on the plain black cardstock & clear embossed that, just for a little extra funkiness. I stuck it all together, and TA-DA! A quick, inexpensive & totally unique gift created in a whopping ten minutes!

Well, time to get my junk packed up and head back to Brandon - off to go see what else I can come up with!

And after all of that...

I spent most of the night thinking about the fact that I absolutely needed to get a photo of the inside of the wedding card... and so, around 5:00AM, I got out the camera to get one...and whaddya know? I guess I DID remember to take one! So, here it is:

See? Just a really simple interior pocket! As for the sentiment, it's from one of those cheap little Studio G sets from Michael's - although, it originally said 'So Totally Happy For You', which I thought was lame, so I whipped out the X-Acto knife and cut it out! (Wow, that sounds a little psycho...ah well, we've all got our moments!)

Ahhhhhh....I feel so much better having that posted - now it's complete!

A Simple Wedding Card...

Hey there! I've just got a short little post today to show a simple wedding card that I made for Scott's cousin & his new wife...now it's just a matter of getting it to them!
All I did was:
*emboss the top portion of the card with the CuttleBug 'Birds & Swirls' embossing folder;
*stamp & clear emboss the sentiment - from an Inkadinkadoo set, I think;
*score a couple of lines above & below the sentiment with a Scor-Pal;
*and stick on a couple flowers attached with a brushed nickel heart brad.
Perfect if you're in a hurry - and especially if you were wanting to mass-produce some 'Thank You' cards (or something like that). Oh, and since we're lazy & just gave the happy couple some money, I put in a cute little pocket on the inside front of the card. To do that, I just embossed a rectangle (about half the height of the card) with 'Birds & Swirls' as well, then punched half of a 3/4" circle in the middle of the top section. I then attached that piece on 3 sides, leaving the top open to form the pocket...and promptly forgot to photograph it (which is a problem only because the card is sealed in it's envie, sitting in my purse, just waiting for the opportunity to jump out before I forget about the poor little thing again)!
Guess that's why I make cards and am not much of a scrapbooker...
Here's to the easy way out!

Some Mornings You Just Know...

it's going to be a two-cup day! That's how this morning started out... After an impromptu field trip to Minot, ND yesterday to pick up some tractor parts, and then coming back to Brandon instead of doing the easy thing which would have been to stay in Melita... I didn't wind up getting to sleep until about 2AM! And of course, both girls had all the sleep they needed - and were up at 7 this morning! So - coffee, it is!

Anyway, I built this spinner card for my uncle's birthday card... he's an overgrown kid, so I'm hoping he'll enjoy this card as much as I do! (*ahem*... I guess I can't exactly talk about being an overgrown kid!)

I used the Changito Coffee stamp by Stampendous, and colored him in with PrismaColor pencils. I also added a little bit of Glossy Accents to the mugs, and Doodlebug Lily White Flocking to his bunny slippers - love love love that stuff! As for the mugs, you can't really see the shine in the photo...but it's there!

Well, I'm being beckoned at by a 4-year-old... Guess we're off to go paint a Disney Princess picture now! Ciao!

First 'Official' Post

Hey there! Well, here's my first go at a 'real' post... Let's start with something SIMPLE: This is the card I threw together quickly for my nephew's 2nd birthday - Ty LOVES pirates, so this little TGF Ian stamp was PERFECT!

I colored him in with mostly Bic Mark-It permanent markers, but I also used Copic E00 (Skin White) for his face & hands, and dabbed on some Tim Holtz 'Old Paper' Distress Ink on his shirt. He's stuck on there with pop dots...What would I ever do without them?! Although you can hardly see it (because I take awful pictures), I randomly stamped the little skull image (that comes in the TGF 'Matey' set) with Versamark ink on the blue part of the card...and then finished it all up with a strip of paper from the DCWV 'RockStar' pad, and the little 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from I-don't-know-where. Ta-Daaaa... simple, but cute!

That's it for today, folks... Hope to see you again!
