Hey everyone!

It's Super Sketch time at PWCO - here's my take on it:

Supplies Used:
Paper/Cardstock:  Pixie-Licious 6x6 Pad (Cosmo Cricket)/Kraft (PTI)
Stamp:  Side by Side (PWCO/RAM)
Tools:  Classic & Scalloped  Circles - Small (Spellbinders); Doily Lace Edge Punch (Martha Stewart); Corner Rounder (EK Success)
Miscellaneous:  Flowers (Prima & Jolee's); Ribbon (Stash); Yellow Rhinestones (KaiserCraft)
Image coloured with Copics

I'm totally blaming the fact that it's done nothing but rain for the last few weeks for why my pictures have been so crappy...Just smile & nod, and pretend they're good, ok?!  (Either that, or send some flippin' sunny days my way!)

No excuses for not playing along with our sketches, BTW - you've got until the end of the month to do so!!

2Cute Rubber Stamps + CPS#223

I made this card to play along with CPS #223:
Paper/Cardstock:  SEI 'On The Coast' 6x6 pad; Stamper's Select White (PTI)
Stamps:  Stingray Kids digi (2Cute); Tag-its #1 (PTI)
Tools:  Rectangle Nestibilities (Spellbinders)
Miscellaneous:  Dew Drops (Robin's Nest)
I love these little stingrays!  The colour scheme was totally out of my comfort zone; it was directly influenced by the SEI paper pad I was using & it was refreshing to make something using colours I wouldn't normally turn to!

Have a great day - and remember, it's PWCO sketch time again tomorrow!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take:
{Sorry the photo's kinda fuzzy... been rainy here again, and I've been screwing around with my ISO settings, not knowing what I'm doing!)

I've definitely taken a few liberties with the sketch, but I really love how this card turned out!

No excuses now... get on over to PWCO & play along!

Supplies Used:

Other:   Ocean Soul Smooch (ClearSnap); Melon Berry Vintage Buttons (PTI); Caribbean Twine (The Twinery)

Nicole's One Sheet Wonder Challenge!

Hey everyone!

I totally spaced & forgot to post/link up the cards I made for Nicole's One Sheet Wonder challenge - I actually made these the day the challenge was issued & then proceeded to forget... The deadline is actually today, so I'm hoping I've got these in on time!!!

Here's the One Sheet Wonder I created:
(I totally forgot to take a 'before' photo, so after I had cut my panels, I had to piece it all back!)
I used PTI's 'Dot Spot' stamp set, along with PTI's Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush, Ocean Tides & Smokey Shadow inks, on Red River Paper's Canvas textured paper.  This is my first shot at an OSW, so it's definitely not amazing, but I do like how it turned out!

Here are the 4 finished cards:

(Not a clue why this photo's so crappy... sorry.)

They all use the same supplies, and similar layouts... A nice little cohesive set.  =)

Thanks for the challenge, Nicole - it was just what I needed!

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Dot Spot, Fillable Frames #12 (PTI)
Cardstock:  Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush (PTI); Canvas Texture (Red River Paper)
Tools:  Double-Ended Banner Die (PTI); 2" Circle Punch (Marvy)
Other:  Caribbean Twine (The Twinery); Ocean Tides Buttons (PTI); Ouchless Cardboard (Gauche Alchemy); Lace from stash

It's a 2Cute Kind of Day! (And, Mojo Monday #194)

(Actually, with Lily around, it's always a too cute day... but that's a-whole-nother set of stories!)

How's everyone in Bloglandia this fine Thursday?  Emily's still in school until June 29, so while most of you already have your kidlets at home for summer break, I've still got it 'easy' for another 3-ish weeks!

I played along with the current sketch over at Mojo Monday (#194) this week:

Whatcha think?  I can't get enough of these monsters - they really are 'too cute'!

Taken directly from the Gauche Alchemy Blog:

Faithful readers, it has been far too long since our last design team call. That’s what happens when we have such loyal designers who rock the casbah. Would you care to join our humble team? Read on…

Gauche Alchemy, purveyor of original vintage ephemera and delightful found object for mixed media and paper arts, is looking for FIVE team members. We are revamping our design team and game plan, and we’ll be showing our new and improved face to the world in September 2011. This call runs from now until Tuesday, July 5, 2011. We are looking for:

2 designers – create mixed media masterpieces, cards, art journals, scrapbook pages, and home d├ęcor with our gorgeous and quirky kits. You will be required to create at least one project per week (or average 4 per month if there’s a week where you will not be available to tend to your duties). We will keep you flush with goodies to help you do just that. This is a 6-month position with possible extension.

2 writers – writing should be as much (or more!) your passion as creating projects. We are looking for people who are committed to writing the best darn blog posts on the ‘net, incorporating content from designers’ projects (including your own) to trolling the web for eye candy and inspriation. We’d like your thoughts on art, life, and everything. You should know your way around a blog and know how to link things up. We use – if you are familiar with this platform, that’s a bonus (not a requirement). Each writer will be responsible for one newsletter article per month and approximately 6 blog posts per month. You will be asked to work ahead and have posts scheduled ahead of time. We will keep you flush with goodies from our stash, and you may design to your hearts’ content (we encourage it!) but you will not have specific deadlines for projects. This is a 12-month position with possible extension.

1 video tutorial master – if you like to create video how-to’s on all things arty and crafty, this is the job for you. We’d like at least one video tutorial per month, which will be posted to our YouTube channel and distributed across the web in a variety of locations. You should know how to work a camera and do some simple editing (to add our website address to the frame, for example). You don’t have to be a professional – but the videos need to be clear and concise (5-10 minutes at most). You will be kept flush with goodies to inspire your creations, and you will occasionally be assigned tutorial topics that we’d like covered. This is a 12-month position with possible extension.

To apply, send the following to by midnight Mountain Standard Time on Tuesday, July 5 with the phrase “Summer 2011 DT call” in the subject line (IMPORTANT – if the phrase is not in the subject line, your application might be overlooked!).

All applicants:
Your blog address (URL)
Other design team obligations currently or in the near future
Why you’d like to work with us
Which products in our shop inspire you the most
Your favorite type of project
Why you consider yourself a snarky, irreverent artist with attitude – or alternately, just show us in your application that you ARE a snarky, irreverent artist with attitude.

For writer applications, a sample of your writing (blog posts will suffice – but give us specific posts you’d like us to look at – you can list 2 or 3)

For designer applications, 3-5 projects – photos and descriptions. Try to include as much variety as you can. For example, if you art journal, paint, and scrapbook, include some of each.

For video applications, a 1-2 minute video (upload it to YouTube or similar video service online and give us the link). Use this as an opportunity to show us your style. You may appear in the video personally or do voice over or even just do brief written instructions on screen – whatever works for you and showcases you best. Show us your idea of a good tutorial. It need not be art-related. Show us how to fry an egg – whatever you like, but make it fun and interesting!

Okay, off you go!  Give 'er your best shot!

Fuzzy Slippers has Blog Candy!

How about a little fun this AM?  It's been awhile since I've entered any blog candies; I don't play the lottery, either, so I guess that's that.  (Don't get me wrong; I'm not anti-gambling... I'm just lazy! LOL!)

Moriah at Fuzzy Slippers Designs is offering up some luscious American Crafts papers:

CardPatterns #117 & Color Throwdown #143...

....And again, I missed the deadline!  Dude, someone seriously needs to hook me up with a time-stopper... 'cause days are going by faster than I can keep track!

Anyway, this card was created to play along with CardPatterns Sketch #117 (LOVE this one, btw!) and Color Throwdown's Color Challenge #143....

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Monster Mash (2Cute Rubber Stamps)
Papers:  Stamper's Select White, Raspberry Fizz (PTI); Springtime Collection (Echo Park)
Miscellaneous:  Classic Standard Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Circles Large (Spellbinders); Caribbean Twine (The Twinery)

I didn't add a sentiment... I'll wait 'til I decide what this card will be used for!  Those monsters just make me so happy... and I think this card is just going to sit on my desk for a while because of that!

Thanks for looking & have a great day!!

FTL #142 & Colour Q #86 and #87....

Right... so I had originally started out with Colour Q Challenge #86 and Clean and Simple Stamping's Fall-To Layout #142... and then missed the deadline for CQ's #86.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Lolli Hop (2Cute Rubber Stamps); Signature Series: Cupcake (PTI)
Papers:  Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy, Lemon Tart & Harvest Gold Cardstocks; Distressed Dots & Bitty Dots Patterned Papers (PTI)
Miscellaneous:  Dark Chocolate Baker's Twine, Dark Chocolate Buttons, Large Scallop Border Die (PTI)

So.... since FTL #142 is still open, I just made a new card, using Colour Q's Challenge #87...

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Cupcake Kitty (2Cute Rubber Stamps); Cupcake Collection (PTI)
Papers:  Close to Cocoa (I don't have anything closer to Soft Suede), Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie & Crushed Curry Cardstock (SU!); In Bloom Patterned Paper (PTI)
Miscellaneous:  Cappuccino Twine (the Twinery); Stickles (Ranger); Lace (stash); Edge Punch (Martha Stewart)

And ta-daaaa.... two cards to add to the stash!  I LOVE being able to combine sketch challenges with colour challenges - it really helps to maximize your time if you've got lots to do and not much time to do it in!

Thanks for looking & have a great day!

Mojo Monday # 193 & PWCO!

Hey y'all!

I thought I'd play along with Mojo Monday's current sketch... I haven't in so long, it was about time!

I thought I'd ink up PWCO's "Gone Fishing", since I've had him since his release and have never, ever used him!  I paired him up with some BasicGrey Marjolaine papers, and PTI Kraft cardstock, then added some faux stitching (which I'm obviously no better at than real stitching...oi!) and some Cappuccino Twinery twine!

Nothing too exciting going on in these parts lately... just life.  Had a good visit with my Dad last Friday, followed by Lily's second birthday on Sunday.  Got my front porch almost all cleared out; bookshelves are now on the 'honey-do list', but that's another project for another day.  What do you think of the new photo backgrounds?  I gave up on my dirty kitchen windows, and am trying out the vintage table in my cedar-panelled front porch (yeah, the one I just cleared out)... lots of windows = lots of natural light... and I'm really loving the whole 'rustic-y' look it's got going on!

Anyway, guess I better get going... couple more challenge entries to get up here (before they end on me - oops!) - Have a great day, everyone!
